Ferrule Options for my Custom Tap Handle

The ferrule is the bottom part of the tap handle that screws on to the beer faucet. Ferrules are constructed using a standard 3/8” thread and the common ferrule found on most stock tap handles is the standard silver or gold tapered ferrule as shown below - they can be easily purchased from many online home brew companies or even Amazon. A majority of our custom tap handles also have this type of ferrule as they look great and are very durable. There are also a number of other stock ferrules that can be used to compliment your custom tap handle, below you see the ferrules from Alaska, Bruz, New Holland and Ommegang. These ferrules are a little more but the look you get is well worth it.

However, you are not limited to a stock ferrule on your custom tap handle - we can custom design a ferrule that would be unique to your tap handle. We can design and manufacture a ferrule to flow beautifully with your custom tap handle. Take a look at some of these examples. For the Taf’ts Brewing custom tap handle the ferrule is made to look like a pipe fitting to flow with the rest of the tap handle. For the Flat 12 Bierwerks tap handle the ferrule is designed to look like the terminal nut of a real spark plug. For the Southern Tier we made the ferrule look like a metal clamp and on the Tito’s Vodka Mule tap handle the ferrule was just a copper rod. In all of these examples using a stock ferrule would not look good at all and would look more out of place.

Besides a stock ferrule or a custom ferrule, sometimes the best ferrule is one you do not see at all - we call this an internal ferrule where the 3/8” thread is imbedded or hidden into the bottom of the tap handle. This allows the beauty of a custom tap handle to stand on its own. You can see from the examples below that you could put a stock ferrule on the bottom of any of these tap handles and they would look fine, but the absence of any ferrule makes the tap handle itself really stand out.
